Why are black cats considered bad luck? There's many reasons.
They were considered bad luck because it was believed black cat owners belonged to evil witches. It was believed that they were associated with the devil. It was believed that the witches could transform into black cats and could sneak around in disguise.
Eventually, this caught on to many people, who then avoided bad luck. This myth grew stronger and stronger. But soon- many people stopped believing this, when people became much smarter.
Now, they are used as symbols, representing things like halloween!
The Story Of How Black Cats Started Becoming Bad Luck:
Once, there was a little boy who was walking down the street when a black cat crossed his path. He tripped, and the cat was in his way when he tried to get up. So, he threw some pebbles at the black cat, and eventually the cat moved.
But the cat went through a fence the little boy had never noticed. He was curios, so he followed the cat.
After following the cat, he ended up at a house. He entered it, but nobody was home. He checked all the rooms- and nobody was there. Meanwhile, the cat walked into the kitchen. Then, someone walked out. The cat was now gone. When the little boy saw this, he knew the lady was a witch who transformed from the cat. He ran home to tell his father.
His father than warned the town that there was a black cat disguised as a witch. Then, everyone stayed clear of black cats and they were considered bad luck.
