Cats sleep a lot! And when they do, it's very cute. But do ever wonder why they sleep so much? It's not like they're doing anything during the day... right? Cats sleep between 12 and 16 hours a day! Us humans only need 8 hours of sleep, and we definitely do way more than cats do. So, why do cats sleep so much?
One reason might be because your cat is nocturnal. Some cats are nocturnal, and you may not know it! This is why your cat may sleep so much in the day, and may wander around at night.
Another reason is, they may not actually be sleeping, they're just lazy and lying down on the couch, they be relaxing or taking a rest. I mean, what else is there for cats to do?
They also might be saving energy, so they can stay awake longer. You may see them sleep for a whole day, and then see them be awake for a for another whole day!
On rainy days, cats tend to sleep a lot.
It's also in their instincts. Back when they needed to hunt and kill, they would often sleep a lot so they were ready and not tired. Cats also have tiny bodies, and do need to rest a lot.
Cats also sleep when they are bored and have nothing to do. They may also sleep while they are stressed and sick.
And of course, cats sleep when they're tired.
That's all for now, stay tuned for more news!
